About Online Security

Medcomp® uses 128-bit SSL technology to secure your sessions on this Web site. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology is the industry-standard method for encrypting & protecting data transmissions over the Internet. You can tell that you are using SSL if the URL in your browser's address bar begins with "https://." Your web browser may also display a padlock icon in the status bar at the bottom of the browser window. SSL is used to ensure the integrity of your personal information, such as user names & passwords, while it travels over the Internet between your browser and Medcomp®'s Web server.

Your web browser does not use SSL ("secure mode") by default. You have the option to turn secure mode on and off at any time while browsing the Medcomp® Web site simply by prefacing the URL in the address bar with "https://" (as opposed to "http://"), or by clicking the padlock icon in the top-right region of the browser screen.
Please note that some pages (such as the Product Problems / Complaint Form) are only available in secure mode. Such pages use forms that may submit confidential patient or personal information, and are therefore required to be used in secure mode only. If you encounter one of these pages while you are browsing in normal mode, you will either be prompted to switch to secure mode or redirected to a secure connection automatically.

Your browser may warn you of transitions between secure mode and normal mode with a pop-up dialog box. These warnings are normal, and do not indicate any problem with your connection. They are simply for your information and can be disabled if you choose to do so. Your browser may also warn you if the page you are viewing contains both secure and nonsecure items. For example, some of the Catheter Insertion Videos pages use plugins to play the videos in your Web browser. These plugins are referenced with links beginning "http://." If you are viewing one of these pages in secure mode, you may be warned that the page contains "nonsecure items" and have the option to either display the items or to block them. You would either have to click "yes" to allow the items to be displayed, or switch back to normal (nonsecure) mode and refresh the videos page. There is no security risk associated with Medcomp®'s videos pages.
