The Split Cath® Guidewire Weave Insertion Technique Download PDF File Insertion Video

After the catheter is tunneled, dilate the vessel. Then place the guidewire into the distal tip (venous lumen) of the Split Cath®.
Advance the guidewire through any side hole
of the distal lumen (venous) of the Split Cath®.
Place the guidewire into the proximal (arterial) lumen tip. Continue to advance the guidewire through the arterial lumen.

Advance the Split Cath® over the guidewire into the vessel until desired tip placement is achieved.
 
The Split Cath® can be inserted via Guidewire Weave Insertion Technique (shown above) or Modified Seldinger Technique (not shown) in the Internal Jugular Vein. Alternate insertion sites may include Femoral or Subclavian.
